Leaf Collection

The City of Ripon comes around in the fall with specifically designed leaf vacuums.
Citizens may rake their leaves to the terrace area for pickup and disposal by the city.
Please keep the leaves on the terrace and not in the street.
Leaf pickup begins approximately mid-October through the 3rd Friday in November.

Important Reminders
  • Leaves MUST NOT be placed in the street.
  • Leaves should be placed on the terrace area or sidewalk if no terrace is present.
  • The city is divided into 3 Leaf Collection zones. Leaf Collection Trucks follow a route and methodically work through the 3 zones.  Trucks are not dispatched to an address or area on request.
  • Once a zone has been finished, the trucks move onto the next zone, continuing in this fashion to ensure all areas of the city receive the same service.
  • Residents DO NOT need to call in for leaf pickup.  Progress updates will be provided through the City’s Facebook page.

Any leaves remaining after the Leaf Collection Trucks have been converted for Plowing activities are the property owner’s responsibility.

Can I rake my leaves in the street/gutter?

No. This will cause our storm sewers to get clogged. Leaves should be placed up on the terrace area.

Does the city pick up leaves any other time besides the fall?

No. Fall pickup only. The City of Ripon maintains a compost site located at 1131 Berlin Rd.

It is open Tuesdays and Saturdays 9:00am - 3:30pm.

The Compost Site is closed Tuesdays mid December thru mid April - weather permitting.

How long will the city pick up leaves?

The city will start leaf pickup mid October and continue through the 3rd Friday in November. The crew may make an additional pass around the city as long as weather permits (before snow falls).

Should I bag my leaves for fall leaf pickup?

No. Leaves must be loose for our leaf vacuums to pick them up.
