2025 Tax Bill and Where Do My Property Taxes Go?

INFORMATION REGARDING 2025 TAX BILLS

2025 Tax Bills were mailed out the week of December 8th.

While your property tax payments are made to the City Treasurer, the City does not keep all of the revenue. A significant portion of your tax dollars is distributed to other governmental jurisdictions that provide services to the Ripon community—including the Ripon Area School District, Fond du Lac County, and Moraine Park Technical College.

Your 2025 tax bill will display a net mill rate of $24.58 for every $1,000 of assessed value (shown as 0.02457991 on the bill). This “Net Assessed Value Rate” represents the combined tax rate of all the taxing jurisdictions that serve properties within the City of Ripon.

2025 Mill Rate Percent Increases by Jurisdiction:

  • City of Ripon: 4.36% increase
  • Fond du Lac County: 8.55% increase
  • Ripon Area School District: 7.42% increase
  • Moraine Park Technical College: 9.17% increase

Breakdown of the Cost of City Services of Taxpayers and Residents:

Based on the City of Ripons 2025 mill rate of $9.70, a home or property assessed at $200,000 pays approximately $1,940 in City property taxes.

Using all levy supported departments and functions, the following breakdown illustrates the percentage of the total tax levy allocated to each service area, as well as the actual dollar amount contributed by a $200,000 property. This distribution demonstrates how each local tax dollar supports essential City operations and community services.

Notably, 54.7 percent of the total tax levy is allocated to Police and Department of Public Works functions, reflecting the communitys significant investment in public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and core municipal services.

Based on the total tax levy of $4,289,257 and a City population of 7,681, each resident contributes approximately $46.54 toward levy supported services. The total cost to provide these essential municipal services is $8,900,296, which equates to $96.56 per resident.

The breakdown illustrates how these costs are allocated across City services.
