HIRING - Water Laborer/Operator

City of Ripon | Full-Time

The City of Ripon is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our Water Utility team. Whether you're an experienced Water Operator or looking to start a career in the water industry, this position offers hands-on work, training, and opportunities to grow.

What You'll Do
• Operate and maintain wells, treatment equipment, and the water distribution system
• Collect samples and perform routine laboratory testing
• Install, read, and troubleshoot water meters
• Assist with water main and service repairs
• Perform utility locating using maps, records, and GIS
• Maintain facilities, equipment, records, and grounds
• Respond to water system emergencies

What We're Looking For
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Mechanical/electrical aptitude and basic math skills
• Strong communication and computer skills
• Willingness to learn and obtain required Wisconsin water certifications

Certification Requirement
Must possess or obtain Wisconsin certifications in Groundwater, Distribution, Iron Removal, and VOC Removal within one year of employment.

Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with a rotating four-week on-call schedule and 30-minute emergency response requirement.

Competitive Pay & State Benefits
Water Laborer: $25.59+/hour
Water Operator: $28.33+/hour, based on qualifications and certifications
