Zoning Code Update 2026
The City of Ripon is undertaking a comprehensive update of its Zoning Code in partnership with Vierbicher. The current zoning ordinance has served the community for many years, but portions of the code have become outdated and no longer reflect current development practices, state law, or the City's long-term planning goals.
Throughout 2025 and 2026, City staff and Vierbicher have worked to modernize the ordinance by improving organization, simplifying regulations, clarifying development standards, and aligning the code with the City's Comprehensive Plan and other adopted planning documents. The update is intended to create a zoning ordinance that is easier for residents, property owners, developers, and staff to understand and administer while supporting responsible growth and protecting community character.
The Plan Commission has completed its review of the proposed zoning code and recommended it for consideration through the City's public adoption process. This webpage serves as a central location for project information, draft documents, meeting materials, and opportunities for public review.
The City encourages residents, business owners, developers, and other stakeholders to review the proposed updates and participate in the public process. Public input is an important part of ensuring the updated zoning code reflects the needs and vision of the Ripon community.
The Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on August 19, 2026 at 7:00PM on the proposed zoning code updates.
