Part-Time Fire Chief
The Ripon Area Fire District is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to serve as our next Part-Time Fire Chief. Serving a community with an average of 324 calls per year, this hands-on role provides leadership across emergency response, training, prevention, and daily operations.
The Chief will oversee a 2026 operating budget of $662,880 and lead a team of 2 full-time staff (Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Prevention Specialist), along with paid-on-call and volunteer personnel. This position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week and offers flexibility depending on schedule.
A Day in the Life:
The Chief may start by connecting with the day crew, setting priorities, and reviewing fire prevention and inspection activities. The rest of the day could include supporting trainings, handling administrative work, attending meetings, assisting with public education, and responding to calls. Other responsibilities may arise that contribute to keeping the department running smoothly.
We’re looking for a collaborative, integrity-driven professional with strong leadership, communication, and incident command experience who is ready to guide a modern fire department and serve our community with excellence.
Salary: $40,000–$54,000 annually
Benefits: Health insurance + Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS)

The City of Ripon is looking for Mechanics to join our team! We have multiple openings for dependable individuals who enjoy maintaining and repairing all kinds of vehicles and equipment—from weed trimmers and lawn mowers to plow trucks, end loaders, and more—applying your expertise in gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical repairs to keep essential public services running smoothly.
- Full-time | Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Starting wage: $27.81 - $32.00/hour+
- Hands-on work with a variety of municipal vehicles and equipment
- Opportunities for overtime and on-call work during snow removal and emergencies
- Growth potential in this role, with desired CDL with Tanker Endorsement, DOT and ASE Certifications.
